Microfibrous materials technology can be used to develop both personal
protection equipment and collective protection equipment. Some of
the products for which it can be used as the enabling filter technology
include:
Escape
hoods. Foldable, lightweight, pocket-sized disposable
hoods offer portability and broad protection for first responders,
government, and civilian use. They also offer longer gas life and
less pressure drop than current state-of-the-art Department of Defense
(DOD) technology.
Polishing
sorbent. Our media can be easily inserted into current
configurations of DOD and commercial gas mask canisters, providing
dramatically increased gas life without increasing pressure drop.
Regenerative filter
and sorbent canisters. These canisters continuously
stop and mitigate nuclear, biological, and chemical threat. They
can be incorporated into the HVAC system of any structure (such
as a critical government building, military facility, embassy, or
commercial airplane), to provide broader protection than has been
previously available at a significantly reduced operating and logistical
cost over the life of the structure. |

MicroLobal Fibers
are fabricated with a special process that results in an irregular
cross section and multiple lobed sides to increase overall surface
area for a given fiber diameter rating. Depending on the application,
the increase in surface area can range from 30% to 400%. This means
that, compared with conventional circular cross-section fibers of
equivalent diameter, MicroLobal
Fibers can offer smaller pore size for better filtration, wet-lay
ups with thinner cross-sections for manufacturing, and better electro-magnetic
shielding.
Available
in a variety of alloys and formats. Fabricated
from the finest commercial and research alloys, MicroLobal
Fibers are available in a variety of formats, including continuous
tow, yarn or chopped in lengths as small as 1 millimeter. Shorter
lengths are available on a "best efforts" basis. We
offer a variety of stock diameters ranging from 1.5 to 50 micrometers.

Sampled and Archived to Assure Quality. MicroLobal
Fibers are manufactured to the most exacting specifications and
tolerances by an experienced team of chemists, engineers and metallurgists.
Certification of chemical content, fiber transverse dimension
measurement and fiber size distribution are available, as required.
We sample and archive our products along with the processing variable
data to assure product traceability to raw material constituents.
